digitizing machine embroidery designs

Digitizing your own embroidery designs can be very rewarding, not only can you get to see your artwork in a finished product but it means as a business you can expand and take orders for custom embroidery. To digitize you will need a embroidery digitizing software. Embroidery digitizing software is similar to any other editing software, you can import and export images, modify, adjust and alter an image until you get the design you want. In my next post i will give you some solutions to some common mistakes when using embroidery digitizing software.

Skipped stitches in embroidery design

Skipped stitches in an embroidery design are usually caused by a blunt needle. It is always best to change the needle of your embroidery machine every 6 hours. It is also always important to make sure your needle is securely in place.

Embroidery design stitches sinking

Some stitches of the embroidery will appear to sink into such fabrics as toweling, velvet and other textured surfaced fabrics. To solve this sinking stitch problem always use water soluble topping film to prevent stitches from sinking into the fabric.

It is really simple you use and it comes just like a film, you place the film over the fabric and this will make sure the design stays on top and does not sink. Any water soluble topping left is easily dissolved in warm water. More Embroidery Help

Why is my embroidery design out of line

I had a call the other day from a friend who embroiders. She has not been embroidering for that long, just a few months.
She had spent the whole of Saturday trying to figure out why her newly acquired embroidery design was constantly out of line. She checked her thread tension, her backing paper the lot. Rather than think it might be the design at fault and not her embroidering technique she frustratedly persevered to no avail.
She Finlay decided to give me a call and i asked her to email the design over to me. Straight away i opened the embroidery design file with my digitizing software and the faults were obvious, the design was not filled in properly, a few tweaks and all was sorted. Just thought i would share this with you in case any of you had spent hours frustrated over a embroidery design, dont always be quick to blame yourself, it might just be the embroidery design.

Using inferior supplies will ruin your machine embroidery

Don't be tempted to used inferior embroidery supplies when embroidering. For example using paper products and carrier bags as embroidery stabilizer will not only ruin your embroidery project but using such items will damage your machine. There are supplies made especially for machine embroidery, like embroidery threads, needles, stabilizers etc.. they are made to withstand the high speed embroidery machines and to give your embroidery project a good finish. If you are ever tempted to use a cheaper alternative to your regular accessories then be sure to think about the consequences. More embroidery help and tips
